The story of one girl’s dream of starting her own design business.
This is a new year and this is the year I am finally going
to start my own design business. I am a designer. I design Cross Stitch,
Embroidery and Sewing Patterns for Accessories, Home Décor, and Decoration. I
combine different Embroidery, Embellishment and Sewing Techniques together to
create my whimsical and heartfelt designs. Most of them contain bits of my
original poetry or sayings about living, loving, and laughing.
There is nothing else that I have ever wanted to do more
with my life, than to make things. It’s what I do, and who I am. I sew, stitch,
embellish, paint, assemble and create things. Things to wear, things to
decorate with, and things to use. I make things by hand designed by my heart. I
have always loved to make and create things, and I am not happy unless that is
what I am doing. I like to figure out how things can fit together to create
something new.
This is my attempt to commit to making regular blog posts to
document my progress in starting my own business. It’s very hard to keep
believing in yourself and your abilities so this blog will be my “Designer’s Diary”
for my business, Shangri – La – Stitches. When I am stitching I feel like I am
in my “Happy Place” my paradise on earth, my Shangri La. I have finally made
the decision to try and achieve what I have always wanted to do. Like anything
worth having it has just taken me awhile to go for it. So here it goes!
